With summer on the way, many of us are planning our beach vacations. Sun, sand, and warm weather, what's not to love! When you think about beaches in the US, Florida beaches come to mind. Florida has white sand beaches on the Gulf side, complete with unbelievably beautiful water. On the Atlantic side, there is of course Daytona, where you can drive your car directly on the beach during certain hours of the day.
If you are looking for a beach trip, but want to see something different, consider Maine. Maine's southern coast boasts more than 30 miles of white sand. Beaches to consider include Kittery, Ogunquit, and Old Orchard Beach. Shop for antiques, enjoy being close to nature, or just gaze on the beauty of Maine.
In the spring, summer, or fall (a Maine winter is likely to be a bit rough for most folks), head up the east coast in your RV. In Maine, there are more than 542,000 acres of national and state parks to explore. There are many choices of campgrounds near the Maine beaches, including, Hid'n Pines Family Campground in Old Orchard Beach. This campground offers amenities such as a playground, large heated pool, and video arcade. If you prefer camping closer to the woods, but still being close enough to reach the beach, Hemlock Grove Campground, located in Kennebunkport, offers semi-secluded woodland camp sites. Fire pits and picnic tables are available.
Even though it's Maine, temperatures can reach the 80's or 90's during summer days. Consider investing in a windshield cover for your RV trip. These covers help keep the interior of the RV cool by blocking UV rays. Not only will they make you more comfortable, these covers also give you privacy.
